State Capitol Ironman Classic Rescheduled for Dec. 9

PORT ALLEN, La. — Rainy weather forced the postponement of last weekend’s scheduled IHRA Ironman Classic at State Capitol Raceway until December 9.

The schedule of events remain the same with Friday Night Gamblers Races for the Super Pro and Mod classes. Gates open at 8 a.m. Saturday with the Juniors to start at 9 a.m. and the big cars at 1 p.m. Adult admission is $20 with kids 12-under admitted free.

Located 17 miles west of Baton Rouge, State Capitol Raceway is the premier destination for drag racing enthusiasts in Louisiana. Racers will compete for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies in different classes as well as it being the final track points race for the season.

The Super Pro (Box), Mod (No Box), Street and Sportsman classes, along with a Quick 16 shootout and Top Doorslammers will also race for Ironman trophies. The Junior Dragster will have races for the Beginners, Advanced and Masters classes with a run-off for the IHRA Ironman trophy.

The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all member tracks. Prior to this program, a sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.

Go to the track’s website at statecapitolraceway.com for more information about this and other upcoming events.
